Thanksgiving comes but once a year We could scarce afford it every week A splendid feast with those held dear Respite from a world too bleak. If we could keep it every day No, not so much the feasting part But had a thankful word to say Welling up in generous heart, Each hour become a way of living To keep the soul from drought and dearth To give more thanks and do more giving We'd see heaven while we're still on earth. ©Weylan Deaver
