I prefer to contemplate why God created the Universe. It seems to me that He was wanting to prove to the rebellious “Principalities and powers in heavenly places” that he had "manifold wisdom". (Ephesians 3:10-11). The implications of that is that He created first a wrinkle in the fabric of Eternity and made a universe in that. The universe was balanced on razor-thin settings of gravity, nuclear forces, etc. all required to produce a stable planet in a stable solarsystem as part of a stable galaxy. On that planet He placed humanity, all with an aim to ultimately have a Church to which He could point as evidence that He was more wise than the rebels of Heaven. As to the age of this delightful and amazing construct from the Divine Mind, from God’s point of view, it lasts less than a moment and He is done with it. He smooths out the wrinkle in the fabric of Eternity and it is gone, having accomplished its task…
I am convinced that the days of Genesis one were twenty-four days! We know what makes a day, a month and a year but the week that we are wrapped in can only be established with the WEEK of creation!
Is that Weylan riding the beast? I knew he was old, but not that ancient. :)

Beautiful turns of phrase. I've come to the same conclusions after a long time chasing curiosity. But I can't phrase it with such a poetic flair.
