Wisdom or Wealth

Proverbs 2:1-5. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, And lay up my commandments with thee; So as to incline thine ear unto wisdom, And apply thy heart to understanding; Yea, if thou cry after discernment, And lift up thy voice for understanding; If thou seek her as silver, And search for her as for hid treasures: Then shalt thou understand the fear of Jehovah, And find the knowledge of God (Proverbs 2:1-5, ASV). Wisdom or wealth? The value of wisdom is obvious to all with the advancement of age (or should be). If you are so fortunate that you have accumulated some measure of wealth, the value of wisdom should be of more value to you than that wealth. The reason for this is apparent to the thinking person. The wealth is here today, gone tomorrow. Even if you save it for tomorrow, you might not be here! What of your wealth then? The wisdom in view here is not that wisdom that originates in the mind of man; we all understand the wisdom of man can be very helpful, but it is only temporary. The wisdom here is the Lord’s wisdom. To understand the fear of the Lord is to hear His word and make application. This is a wisdom with no regret.
