Close To My Heart

Close to my heart I hold the Word:
Close by my bed, to sleep in peace;
Close in my mind, to read and guard;
Close on the road, for sure increase.

God is still speaking to his world;
God is still guiding his workers’ feet.
Close to my heart I hold the Word:
God makes the humble soul complete.

Close to the text I keep my eyes;
Close to the page to hear God’s voice.
Close to the Book, my powers rise
Close to the Lord; in him rejoice.
