Allah's Allies
Earlier this month saw America’s largest city swearing in a Muslim mayor with his hand on a Quran. Some of us are old enough to remember 9/11 when Muslims leveled the Twin Towers, murdering thousands of Americans. Thanks to importing enough foreigners, New York City now gets to be governed by an African-born Muslim. He wasted no time choosing a homosexual woman to run the fire department, and appoint an official who said owning a home is “a weapon of white supremacy.” The new mayor blasts “the frigidity of rugged individualism” and intends it be replaced with “the warmth of collectivism.” He’s a Marxist who will doubtless be the ally of all things LGBTQ+, and the enemy of all things Christian.
In a way, the alliance is laughable. Islam is everything the Left hates. Islam supports execution of adulterers and homosexuals, endorses whippings for premarital sex (the Left wants libertinism). Islam calls for women to be covered (the Left had rather undress). Islam forbids alcohol (the Left would never). Islam opposes pornography (the Left creates, defends, devours it). Islam insists everyone submit to Allah or pay the price (the Left doesn’t believe in Allah). Islam works toward a world ruled by Islam (the Left wants a world run by Leftists). Muslims say Islam is the highest law (the Left think whatever they want is highest law).
Where could you find two worldviews more at odds? The paradoxical alliance is possible because of what both have in common. The Left hates the gospel of Christ. Islam hates the gospel of Christ. By rejecting the gospel, the Left embraces a worldview of lies from the devil (the “father of lies,” John 8:44). By rejecting the gospel, Muslims embrace a worldview of lies from the same author. Though Muslims and Leftists are wildly different, their worldviews originate at the same source: Satan. And the devil’s messaging doesn’t have to be coherent, as long as it conquers. The devil’s spokesmen don’t have to be right, as long as they get to reign. The devil’s children don’t have to deliver, as long as they get to destroy. In the city that never sleeps, Evil may be the one widest awake.
