A Prayer of Need

Holy and Righteous God,
        the Eternal One ─

Look upon us in our need.
We confess our complete lack.
We together are still alone.
Ours is never enough.

Days are long, suns rise and set.
The hours are dull and endless.
We jump from purpose to purpose.
Nothing truly satisfies.

Open to us horizons.
Show us higher and nobler frames.
Raise us above ourselves.
Save us now and evermore.

Where Jesus is, let us be. Amen.
